RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Cody Dolly ran for 145 yards on 16 carries to help the Red Team to a 46-28 victory over the Gold in the Cumberland Area Youth Football League All-Star game at Ridgeley.
Dolly scored on an 8-yard run and was named the Red’s Offensive MVP. Dalton Golliday made seven tackles and was named the Red’s Defensive MVP.
Danny Fife and Justin Buskirk were the Gold team’s offensive and defensive MVPs.
The Red took control of the game with two touchdowns in each the second and fourth quarters. Brennan Carlin pulled in a 22-yard pass from Devin Shreeve and Michael Wright booted the two-point conversion.
Shreeve was named the game’s MVP. He ran for 65 yards, passed for a scored, blocked an extra-point kick and made 10 tackles.
The Gold scored twice to take a 12-8 lead. Fife and Blake Ravenscroft each scored on one-yard runs. Fife’s came in the first quarter and Ravenscroft’s was in the second.
The Red answered with a 42-yard Tommy Durst run and an 11-yard pass from Trenton Eirich to Adam Duval. Wright’s two kicks gave the Red a 24-12 halftime lead.
The Gold scored first in the third quarter on Fife’s 45-yard run and Jake Hafer’s two-point kick. Shreeve answered with an 18-yard run and Justin Durato made the kick giving the Red a 32-20 lead entering the final quarter.
Cole Smith’s 12-yard run and Hafer’s kick pulled the Gold to within four at 32-28 before Dolly and Golliday put the game out of reach with 8 and 54 yard TD runs. Durato made one of the two kicks.
Fife had 90 yards on 10 runs for the Gold. Duval had six tackles for the Red. Cody Jenkins and Dolly each had five tackles. The Gold’s Justin Buskirk finished with 7.
