Frostburg woman robbed; second incident this week

FROSTBURG — Frostburg Police are attempting to identify a man who allegedly robbed a woman walking on Center Street early Friday. It’s the second time this week a resident has been robbed on the city’s streets.

Chief Royce Douty said Friday evening that the woman left a Main Street business sometime between 12:05 and 12:20 a.m. Friday and walked south on Center Street in the area of College Avenue when she was approached by a black man who had been walking on the other side of the street.

The suspect demanded that the victim open her bag, and about $100 and the victim’s drivers license were taken, Douty said.

The male then fled north toward East Main Street.

The suspect was described as a black male of average build, 5-feet-10 to 5-feet-11 inches tall, with a black front zip hoodie that covered his head. He was wearing dark jeans and dark shoes.

On Monday, a woman was robbed and assaulted by a suspect of similar description as she walked to her vehicle in the area of Center and East Mechanic streets.

No weapon was displayed in either incident.

“This concerns me,” said Douty, who added that the areas where the incidents took place are heavily patrolled by police officers.
