Counties get transit funding
KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac Valley Transit Authority will use a $161,588 federal grant to purchase two minivans, a support vehicle and one 24-passenger bus with lift, according to an announcement by Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall.
The transportation will be available in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral and Pendleton counties.
Goshawk Reward Fund grows
CUMBERLAND — Members and friends of the Maryland Ornithological Society have donated more than $800 to its Goshawk Reward Fund, according to Dave Webb, treasurer-elect.
The reward is being offered for information that results in the arrest and conviction of whomever shot and killed Maryland’s only known breeding female northern goshawk at Savage River State Forest recently. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police at 800-635-6124. Callers may remain anonymous.
