SOMERSET, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police reported two fatal crashes, both drivers from Stoystown, that occurred Friday morning in separate locations.
At 7:04 a.m., police responded to state Route 281 in Quemahoning Township. David Jeron Hostetler, 23, was traveling at a high rate of speed and slid off the road and into a tree, police said. The 2006 Toyota Camry started to roll, struck several other trees and landed upside down.
Hostetler was found deceased when emergency crews arrived.
The second crash occurred at 8:43 a.m. on Pompey Hill Road in Stoney Creek Township where David Sutton Sr., 62, was found deceased after his car struck a tree head-on.
Police said that Sutton was traveling westbound in a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier when he lost control on a curve, slid across, then off the roadway. After striking the tree, the car spun back onto the road and stopped in the eastbound lane.
Sutton was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
Both accidents remain under investigation.
