TERRA ALTA, W.Va. — The son of a Terra Alta man admitted to shooting his father to kill him when police arrived at the home of William Howard Tasker Jr., 61, and found him dead Tuesday afternoon.
Robert Dale Tasker, 42, had a loaded rifle that he said was the weapon he used in the 3:09 p.m. incident at 125 Pond Drive, according to the Preston County Sheriff’s Office. He said that he went to his father’s home with the intention of killing him.
Robert Tasker was arrested for first-degree murder at the Cranesville area site and taken to the sheriff’s office in Kingwood, police said. He was arraigned before Preston County Magistrate Eugene Jenkins and held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in Belington without bond.
The investigation is continuing by Deputy Joseph Stiles.
Robert Tasker had no permanent residence, according to the sheriff’s office.
