LUKE — The new mayor of Luke, Ed Clemons Jr., ousted incumbent Joseph LaRue with a five-vote lead, 20-15. Swearing in is scheduled today as part of the 5 p.m. public meeting in the Luke City Building.
James Lewis, with 22 votes, will join incumbent Commissioners Janet Bryan (18), Gary Wiltison (17) and Thomas Clayton (14) to serve two-year terms along with the mayor.
Of the 49 registered Luke residents, 38 voted in the June 14 election, representing 78 percent of the registered voters.
The supervisors of the board of elections were Virginia Poland, chairwoman, Barbara Davis and Audrey Nolan. The board was assisted by the town clerks.
Other commissioner candidates were Ellen M. Boyce, four votes; Terry V. Boyce, eight; Donna Fracasso, 13; Leo L. Mazzone, 11; and incumbent James H. Parker, 12.
