CUMBERLAND — The city of Cumberland is interested in acquiring and preserving the structures located at 164-166 and 168-170 N. Centre St., which are located in the designated historic district.
The city requested that Allegany County fully abate outstanding county property taxes at these locations. The city will take the same action in addition to abating unpaid utility charges.
“The county has been very helpful in previous tax issues,” said Jeff Rhodes, director of the city’s Administrative Services. “The structures have been in disrepair for a number of years. But they are critical to preserving the North Centre Street corridor,” said Rhodes.
