No-kill shelter to receive funds
LaVALE — Today and Saturday, The Ark of Hope Rescue, a no-kill organization that rescues abused, abandoned and neglected animals, will be at Waldenbooks in the Country Club Mall from 6 to 9:30 p.m. as part of a fundraiser for its animals.
Waldenbooks is donating a percentage of the sales from these two days to organization. Donations from the public, such as dog food, cat food, scoopable cat litter, collars, leashes, toys, alcohol, Q-Tips, paper towels, bleach, clothes and dish soap, will also be accepted.
Three local authors will sign books. The Ark of Hope will bring several animals to greet visitors.
Meeting to discuss charter school
HYNDMAN, Pa. — A meeting to explore the possibility of a charter school in Hyndman will be held Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hyndman Middle Senior High School.
Those attending will hear an explanation of how a charter school works. The charter school option is being discussed because of the school district’s indications of closing Hyndman’s school.
Alco class meets today
CUMBERLAND — The Allegany High School class of 1957 will hold a late luncheon today at 2:30 p.m. at the PriMeridian Restaurant, Baltimore and Liberty streets.
