KEYSER, W.Va. — New officers of the Mineral County Republican Committee were elected Wednesday at the party’s post-primary-election reorganizational meeting.
Gary Howell of Keyser was elected to serve as the committee’s first new chairman in nearly half a century.
“I look forward to working with the Mineral County Republican Party as we build on the nearly 50 years of leadership and growth under our former chairperson, Bob Harman,” Howell said in a prepared statement. “His advice and council will be invaluable as we transition our county, state and nation under the next generation of Republican leaders.”
Other elected officers are Jeff Conley of Fort Ashby, vice president; Allen Hanson of Fort Ashby, treasurer; and Christy Barnett of New Creek, secretary.
In the May primary election, the following individuals were elected to serve on the committee: District 1, Charlie Logsdon, Candy Gordon and Mary Margaret Rinehart; District 2, Gary Howell, Bob Schadler, Lucy Rotruck and Rose Ann Maine; District 3, Richard Lechliter, Jeff Conley, Shelby Grogg and Sara Geis.
The committee selected William “Butch” Wahl of Antioch to fill the vacancy of one male member in District 1.
The party will be represented at a booth at the upcoming Mineral County Fair.
Its next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 18 in Fort Ashby.
