Vaccination clinics slated Sunday

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Health Department will sponsor its annual spring rabies vaccination clinics Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Allegany County Health Department and George’s Creek Elementary School.

Vaccinations will be available for all dogs, cats and ferrets older than 4 months. The cost of the vaccine is $5.

All animals must be contained within a carrier or on a leash.

Hearing check available online

OAKLAND — Allegany Hearing & Balance is observing May as Better Hearing and Speech Month with an online hearing test that lets people determine if they need a check by a hearing professional.

The Across America Hearing Check Challenge at www.hearingcheck.org includes a 15-question self-screener.

Mountain Ridge band rated excellent

FROSTBURG — The Mountain Ridge Concert Band earned an excellent, No. 2, rating at the Maryland State Band Festival at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Wednesday.

The group earned the right to perform at the state festival by earning a superior, No. 1, rating at the regional band festival held in March.
