We all know Brian Grim the mayor of Cumberland, but how many people know Brian Grim the park ranger — they are the same guy!
Earlier this evening (Thursday, Nov. 29), I was taking a brisk stroll around the lake at Rocky Gap State Park. I had mistaken the time that I left for my walk and it got dark earlier than I anticipated. I found myself halfway around the lake, in the campground, with very cold temperatures, as it was getting dark. I had left my cell phone in the car and had not dressed warmly enough. Foolish me!
I was lucky, though. for Mr. Grim happened upon me as he was locking doors for the night. He graciously drove me back to my car and told me not to worry, that hikers ask for assistance all of the time. He was as polite and helpful as could be and saved me from walking the rest of the way after dark, in the cold, back to my car.
I don’t think Mr. Grim knew that I recognized him, and although I am not a Cumberland resident, I appreciate his efforts in Cumberland. Thank you for your kindness, Brian.
