To the Editor:
Cal Thomas said in his Feb. 3 comments (“Let’s have a real debate”) how nice it was to see President Obama and the Republicans trying to have a civil conversation.
However, by only the third paragraph he had smashed that civility with an attack on the President accusing him of being an ideologue.
His referring to the meaning of "ideologue" per Dictionary.com was the start and first of his three degrees of separation. The second degree was his own version to the meaning of the word "progressive" in which he fantasized about some sort of people crushing, ruling elite.
The real meaning of progressive per dictionary.com that Cal decided to forego is "a person who is progressive or favors progress or reform, esp. in political matters."
His third degree of separation (perhaps I should add the words from reality) is full of accusations of unconstitutional foul play by his made up fantasy progressives.
In the end Ole Cal comes back around again and with flowers in his hair and peace sign around his neck espousing the virtues of camaraderie and bipartisanship. If this is his version of working together who needs it or should I say, who needs him!
