Beretta, a firearms manufacturer of 35 years, whose company’s roots are nearly 500 years old, recently announced it is looking at moving its 300 to 400 jobs out of the state of Maryland.
Reports are Beretta has paid some $31 million in Maryland taxes and is in the process of a $73 million dollar expansion in the state.
Now lawmakers are pulling the rug out from under them.
And that’s not counting all of the suppliers and contractors thereof that could be lost ... all because lawmakers are hell-bent on ramming through unconstitutional gun control.
“We literally are part of the arsenal of democracy, that is why we consider this so insulting,” stated Jeffrey Reh, general council for Beretta USA.
The operation in Accokeek has supplied the U.S. military with over 500,000 firearms.
Beretta has been in this boat before. In the 1990s when Maryland imposed a lot of new gun restrictions, Beretta’s response was to move its warehouse operations to Virginia.
“I think they thought we were bluffing, but Berettas don’t bluff,” Reh said.
“I’m concerned. I think they’re going to move,” stated Senate President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller Jr. (D-Calvert).
“They sell guns across the world and in every state in the union — to places a lot more friendly to the company than this state.”
Make no mistake, gun-grabbers in the Maryland General Assembly and anti-gun Gov. Martin O’Malley are looking to pass as much gun control as they can get away with.
They’re about imposing draconian government control. Bills like HB-294 and SB-281 the so-called “assault weapons” ban include, forced gun registration for legally purchased rifles.
The penalty for not complying is up to three years in jail and a $5,000 fine, banning of virtually all semi-automatic rifles — and even thousands of semi-automatic pistols from the state of Maryland and forbidding the sale, transfer, or manufacture of any magazines larger than 10 rounds.
This anti-gun bill has been approved by the senate.
The radical agenda of O’Malley makes O’Bama look like a conservative. A new tax on a gallon of gas, a new utility tax on electricity usage, repealing the death penalty, a new bill that take ownership of your bodily organs at death, the gun ban has got make Maryland unattractive to manufacturers.
It is a dystopia come true for the Democratic Party, but no one else is having fun!
