To all those persons who might be thinking that Christians are “Stuffing God and the Bible down everyone’s throat,” and America wasn’t founded on religion and the Bible, discussed in the recent letters to the editor.
I submit that America was founded on religion, in the Christian faith. For Marylanders, which is covered in the original Charter of Maryland, page 1 and 2, summarized as follows:
The original charter reveals that King Charles V, designated Cecilius Calvert, Baron of Baltimore, Kingdom of Ireland, to transport an ample colony to America for the propagation of the Christian Faith, under the hand of Almighty God and thus was one of the 13 colonies created.
I further submit that on President Obama’s Inauguration Day, the great hymn, “Battle Hymn of The Republic” (officially Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory) was sung on the steps of our capitol by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
The fourth verse reads, “In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me; As He died to make men Holy, let us live to make men free, While God is marching on.”
President Obama, who said that “America is no longer a Christian nation,” must have approved the choir’s selection for the occasion or someone on the inaugural committee.
I submit that our country would be much better served if Christians and all other members of a religious order and many social and fraternal organizations would be campaigning against abortions.
I base this in part on Mother Teresa’s dedicated life to protecting the life of children and those aborted. Cal Thomas, syndicated columnist wrote about her appearance at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, Feb. 3, 1994, when she gave America this last warning.
Before an audience of 3,000, that included President Clinton and his wife and Vice President Gore and his wife, she delivered a knockout speech against abortion. She said, “that America, once known for generosity to the world, has become selfish.”
And she said that the greatest proof of that selfishness is abortion.
Tying abortion to growing violence and murder in the streets, she said, “If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill each other? ...Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.” (Enter the year 2013 and the violence that has erupted this New Year!)
Cal Thomas wrote another article on Jan. 23, 2012, headlining “It’s now been 38 years and 50 million lives.”
In part, Cal wrote “God cannot continue to bless America while we are killing 4,000 unborn babies every day. This atrocity must end ... .”
America’s once greatness is slowing ticking away in the 21st century, like the mighty Roman empire. Proverbs 27:20 gives very much evidence of its demise.
Mother Teresa’s’ message 18 years ago fell on deaf ears as mine will too. Few can be compared to Mother Teresa, who was beyond criticism because of the life she lived in service to others, inspired by the life of Jesus the Christ. Psalm 122:7
Our founding fathers did have reverence for God, which accounts for this once great nation, but our past leadership in America has exhibited their lack of that reverence that is necessary for a country to exist. Proverbs 29:18.

Town of Westernport needs a police force and a curfew
Since the consolidation of Bruce and Valley high schools the town of Westernport rapidly deteriorated from what was once a quite respectable community to a community in a decline in residents, and along with that came a collapse in local government due to lack of knowledge and bad decisions that set the town of Westernport back 60 years.
One bad decision was to give up their police force, and with no constant visual law enforcement it has created an open range for drug dealerss, addicts, thieves, drunks and speeding vehicles that choose to ignore our city laws and speed limits and have totally disregard for the safety of the citizens who are on the streets, especially the children who are like deer, you don’t see them until their in front of you. -

We’re twisting the meaning of the Founding Fathers’ words
I really had to chuckle when I read a recent comment someone made in a northeastern publication: “I’d like to suggest that Congress make a tiny change in our Second Amendment that would more accurately reflect the Founding Father’s intent (to wit): “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear muskets, shall not be infringed.”
