What I am reading from the articles to letters from a ban on guns to stronger laws on gun control is not the real issue when it comes to these killing sprees.
Mental illness is the real issue, and what our insurance companies who lobbied our representatives to cut back on care for the mentally ill, they have done a great job on those cutbacks.
There is an illness which is never discussed and that illness is separation anxiety. Separation anxiety leads to drug and alcohol abuse. It leads to suicidal thoughts and sad to say many make it a reality.
Separation anxiety, especially in young children is very traumatic. I have heard it so many times from school officials, to counselors to people in general.
“Ah, they will get over it.” I am sorry, without help they will not. Teachers do not know how to react to these children when they experience an episode. One teacher shook the child and said, “Stop it, get over it.”
I stepped in reassured the child and his disposition changed. I worked in the lunch room and my presence was known to many of those kids and they felt reassured. Their anxiety subsided.
Separation anxiety needs to be discussed, learn the signs and how to deal with it. high school it is even worse.
We need to deal with mental health care not more gun laws except for one gun law that will ban all guns from pawn shops and where children items are sold.

Were they really good old days? You decide
When a fellow gets old, it’s not unusual for his mind to wander back to the days of his youth. He may forget where he laid his glasses five minutes ago, yet he can remember events that took place a half a century ago. This is one of the interesting things of old age.
