Ordinary folks are performing extraordinary acts of kindness

Cumberland — Down it had come with no end in sight. My daughter and I home alone and afraid. The next day, as she napped, I fought mightily against it with my sadly inadequate snow blower.

Defeated, I went inside to cry. How would we ever get out? To the Lord I lifted my prayer and felt an almost immediate calm — not usual for my temperament. Within a half an hour, I heard a noise. I went to the window and thought I must be imagining the sight before me. A man, a John Deere and a freshly cleared driveway. Gone as quickly as you had come.

Through some digging, we found your name. You brushed off the thanks with a, “I was just driving by and thought you could use some help.” You could have just as easily driven by, engrossed in your own life. But you went out of your way to help a complete stranger.

Make no mistake about it Mr. Bequette, God planted the seed — but you tended the garden. An answered prayer on a snowy day.

A woman offering to carry my packages into the LaVale post office after seeing me struggle with them and my toddler. Wanda Bandura from Broadway computers carrying my broken computer for me not once, but twice — out of the goodness of her heart.

Common folks performing spontaneous acts of kindness. Look for them — they are everywhere. You have all touched my heart and I thank you. God bless.
