There was an article written on human trafficking in the Bradenton Herald the other day with some of the county commissioners attending. I only can say, it is so sad it took so long, so very long for people to open their eyes to the plight of human trafficking.
The worst is the underground world of human trafficking with girls and boys under the age of 12 years old. Parents sell their children to this underground world or through a friend who betrays them.
My first speech, 30 years ago, in front of an audience was on the sexual abuse of a child. In that speech, the youngest child documented was 3 months old. Now the youngest child is 3 weeks old. She was not a child but an infant.
I hear adult teen males to 23 year olds refer to the female gender as (offensive terms).
They think it is funny and the females laugh along with them. I only can say to those girls who laugh to be in a cellar, behind locked closed doors, to be away from family and friends and live the life of a person trapped in the sex slave industry.
I don’t think you will laugh at being called those names anymore. Why demote yourself to that degree. Then we have the boys, far worse for them, because of the shame behind it.
To add: The workplace should frown of this kind of demeanor from their employees.
Priests, lawyers, law enforcement, educators are at a higher standard because you carry the badge of trust and protection.
I hope the next step now is to make people more aware of human trafficking especially to our young who should be educated of the danger signs of human trafficking.
