I would like to suggest a very significant and do-able New Year's resolution.
Resolve to visit a family member or friend or both if they are in a nursing home. If you already do visit, resolve to add at least one more visit to your schedule.
I am a volunteer at the WMHS Frostburg Nursing Home. Recently, I engaged in a discussion with a group of residents on the Magi bearing gifts.
Part of the discussion focused on what gifts we could bring to God and to others.
Some sample answers were: acts of prayer, acts of kindness to others, visiting rooms, etc.
When asked what gift they would most like to receive from others, to a person they said visits from family and friends. They really miss their family and friends.
So, if you are still searching for a do-able New Year's resolution, you might take this suggestion into consideration.
I assure you that the gratitude and joy you will see on their faces will be a great gift to you.
