On the Times-News editorial, “Well worth it: Baltimore Avenue traffic will be one-way during project” (Dec. 6), I would like to comment, What about Virginia Avenue? You paved Oldtown Road. Good job. Where does it lead? To the college.
Where does Baltimore Avenue lead? To the college. The road past Martin’s Food Store to Emily Street leads to the college.
Am I missing something? The last seven or eight mayors have done nothing to Virginia Ave from Industrial Boulevard to Roberts Street. The people below the subway have paid taxes for 30 years and can’t get one “washboard street” paved.
You people need to go to City Hall meetings and let them know you want the “Avenue” fixed now. “Get-er-done.”
I am a resident of West Virginia, but I buy groceries, gas, clothes, medicine (everything) in Cumberland.

What Maryland calls the Fair Share Act isn’t fair at all
The Fair Share Act was passed in 2009. This law allowed for service fees to be part of the collective bargaining process.
The law does not mandate that service fees be negotiated, it simply provides that they can be. -
