On Jan. 31, the Cumberland Times-News showed a picture of an anti-abortion extremist on the front page (“Anti-abortion extremists angered by conviction”).
Scott Roeder gets life in prison for executing a mass-murderer of thousands of innocent late-term unborn babies. But the terminology does distinguish who is working for justice.
When is a person in a position to enact justifiable homicide? How do we explain this to young people who go to church and school and who enter debating clubs and study history and law? The country, president, and lawmakers walk on by while nearly-born infants are mutilated, sold for body parts, experiments, and cosmetics, and in foreign countries thrown in the ground food. www.ALL.org.
Not all are cold and disinterested. A city-sized group of at least 330,000 people, mostly under 30, processed in the world’s largest funeral service — The Annual March for Life in Washington D.C.
Praying, carrying banners defending life and exercising the utmost etiquette, the brave, patriotic, concerned group traveled past a Supreme Court that arced over the entrance Equality, Justice, Law. — None for future unborn Americans. Terror — This is ongoing terror.
Is there pro-life activity in Allegany County? Locally, a bus traveled on an icy road to participate. School was canceled, but brave middle-age people thought future Americans were worth the effort. Thanks to Fr. Jim Kurtz, local churches, and the Allegany County Right to Life for sponsoring the bus.
The Wednesday before the March for Life, Deacon David Conley of St. Mary’s Church dedicated the Holy Hour again to the Right, to Life: “One doctor has Faith and another does not. That is why we have abortion.”
He read of a particular doctor who transfuses blood into unborn babies, and of some doctors who have done surgery on infants (fetuses) as early as 32 weeks gestation. Choice redefined: Thou shalt not kill or it is a new law — abortion on demand — that also says truth or consequences.
Children understand brave soldiers die in war but they do not understand why the President and Americans want to kill their own babies. This is ongoing terror.
Also, Archbishop Edwin Obrien prayed the 10:30 Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. He included a brief talk on his three-day participation in the March-for-Life and other prayer activities. “We are evolving a new generation, “A Culture of Life.”
Most of the crowd were under 30 years of age. Pray and work for the end of abortion. He did not say, “Shoot the Dr. George Tillers in the head.”
On that same Sunday, Jan. 24, Rev. and Deaconess Wilson (a retired neonatal nurse) lead a prayer service at the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization’s Monument for the Unborn.
As she read from the Old Testament of Scripture of how God treats the unmerciful servant, icy rain fell on us and a bell was rung every 23 seconds signifying the death of another baby destroyed by abortion in America.
Appalled by abortion, a local businessman, Eric Harper donated 50 pro-life tee shirts to the Marchers for Life. Thank you, Arts n Letters for enabling us to say “Pray, walk, talk to end abortion” in a silent, bold, continuous way.
The Cumberland Times-News publishes a full page of names and organizations that support an end of abortion and say “Thank you, Mother, for the gift of life.” The background is an American flag and the development stages of an unborn baby.
