Our volunteer firefighters in LaVale are very hard-working and dedicated. I would like to tell a heartfelt story concerning one fireman.
A couple of weeks ago my daughter-in-law, granddaughter and great grandson came to visit from Florida. Thomas (2 1/2 years old) loves fire engines and fire fighters. I made arrangements with a volunteer fireman for Thomas to visit the LaVale Fire Station.
Fireman Eddie Kidwell was extremely caring and gentle with Thomas. He had Thomas sit on the big red fire engine, climb the ladder, sit in the chief’s car and received a fireman's hat and coloring book.
Thomas was very excited and interested to see all the fire equipment and considered Fireman Eddie his friend.
My sincere thank you to Fireman Eddie for going above his duty in making a little boy's wish come true. Please remember to be very proud of our volunteer firefighters.

Were they really good old days? You decide
When a fellow gets old, it’s not unusual for his mind to wander back to the days of his youth. He may forget where he laid his glasses five minutes ago, yet he can remember events that took place a half a century ago. This is one of the interesting things of old age.
