CUMBERLAND — A city man was arrested Friday after Cumberland Police responded to a report of a male subject with a gun off Willowbrook Road.
Officers were called to Willow Woods Court at Willow Woods Apartments shortly before 3 p.m. They began checking the area for a suspect matching the description they were given. A large crowd began forming in the courtyard area of the Allegany College of Maryland housing complex, according to a police report.
Officers located a man matching the description and, as they performed a “pat down” of Corey Linvard Cash III, 19, of Cumberland, felt the shape of what seemed to be a handgun in his pants pocket. Cash was placed into handcuffs and the object was removed.
A pistol, which resembled a normal handgun of average size and weight, was determined to be a BB gun. The search was continued and officers allegedly located a plastic baggie containing approximately 12 individual packages of suspected marijuana.
Cash was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, CDS possession of marijuana, CDS possession of paraphernalia, dangerous wea-pon on school property, dangerous weapon-concealed and disorderly conduct.
He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond after appearing at District Court, said police.
