OLDTOWN — An Oldtown woman was killed Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident on state Route 51, east of Oldtown.
Diana Gail Knott, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near Green Ridge Road, according to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said Daniel Horn, 52, of Pittsburgh was driving west on the roadway when he entered a right-hand curve and encountered a small passenger car that had crossed the center line and was in the westbound lane pointing north. Horn’s sport utility vehicle collided with the passenger side of the car with a “tremendous impact,” police said. Horn was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Oldtown and Paw Paw (W.Va.) volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene, as was an Allegany County medic stationed at Bowman’s Addition fire department and a county forensic investigator. State police also assisted.
