FROSTBURG — Police are attempting to identify a suspect who allegedly robbed and assaulted a Frostburg woman as she walked to her vehicle Monday night in the area of Center and East Mechanic streets, according to the Frostburg Police Department.
The incident occurred at about 9 p.m, when a suspect — described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, of medium build, wearing a dark hoodie drawn tightly around his face, dark pants and tan boots — approached the young woman and demanded her purse.
The victim complied before the suspect searched the purse, found nothing and then threw it at the victim. He then shoved her in the chest causing her to fall to the ground, police said.
The suspect ran in an unknown direction following the incident that occurred within view of heavily traveled Main Street, located a half-block from the scene.
Frostburg Police searched the area without locating the suspect.
It was not known if the victim sought medical treatment following the incident.
Police said no weapon was displayed.
