One person died in an accident on Interstate 70 about three miles past the Big Pool exit Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police said.
The one-vehicle accident occurred just before 9 a.m.
The car involved caught on fire. The car, which was still at the accident scene at 9:45 a.m. appears to have been heavily damaged.
The cause of the accident and the fire remain under investigation, said Trooper Butler.
Both westbound lanes remained closed at 11 a.m., but police were letting traffic move along the westbound shoulder.
