RAWLINGS — A Keyser, W.Va., man was killed and a Cumberland man injured Saturday morning following a head-on vehicle accident on U.S. Route 220.
Frederick Hartford Washington, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:22 a.m. crash that happened north of Fort Hill Ridge Road, Maryland State Police said.
Washington was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala northbound when he lost control, crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Roger Lynn Huffman, 54, police said.
Huffman was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Allegany County’s snow emergency plan was in effect at the time of the accident, police said, but it was unclear weather road conditions contributed to the crash.
