OAKLAND — Oakland resident Bryson Matthew Dixon, 24, who was previously charged with DUI in the Dec. 9 crash that killed his passenger, has been charged with three counts of homicide by motor vehicle, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
Samantha Gibson, 21, was ejected during the 1:30 a.m. crash and taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., where she was pronounced dead.
The single-vehicle wreck occurred at 6483 George Washington Highway. De-puties arrested Dixon at the scene and he was released after he posted $2,500 bond set by a district court commissioner.
After consultation with the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office, police charged Dixon on Monday with the three homicide counts, two counts of DUI, driving impaired, negligent driving and fail to drive right of center.
Dixon was driving a GMC Envoy eastbound on George Washington Highway when he lost control and hit an embankment, causing Gibson to be ejected from the vehicle, police said.
