OAKLAND — A 58-year-old Mountain Lake Park woman suffered fatal injuries early Friday when she failed to stop at an intersection stop sign and collided with a truck operated by a Swanton man, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
Darlene Davis died at the scene following the 12:30 a.m. crash that occurred at the intersection of Maryland Highway and Sand Flat Road.
Donald John McGettigan, 48, was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police said a preliminary investigation showed Davis was driving a Ford Ranger southbound on Sand Flat Road when, for unknown reasons, she failed to stop, entered the westbound lane of Maryland Highway and collided with a Ford truck operated by McGettigan.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts and had airbag deployment, police said.
The investigation of the accident is continuing, police said.
Southern Rescue Squad and Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
