CUMBERLAND — An elderly woman suffered apparently minor injuries Tuesday when she fought a man who kicked in a rear door of her home on Louisiana Avenue around dawn, according to the C3I Unit.
The suspect pulled a knife and demanded money during the 6:30 a.m. incident.
Police said the victim punched the suspect in the chest and was cut on her finger. The suspect then grabbed medications and ran from the residence.
Two other home invasions were reported in the same area in the same time frame, according to the C3I Unit.
An occupant was confronted by the suspect in one incident. The suspect ran from the residence when the occupant yelled.
No occupant was involved in the third incident.
The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 1 inch tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark trench coat, a light hat with a hood over the hat and a dark bandana over the lower part of his face.
Cumberland Police searched the area but the suspect was not located.
The officers were assisted at the scene by C3I investigators and evidence collection specialists of the Maryland State Police.

Callers who wish to remain anonymous may call Allegany and Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
The incidents remain under investigation by C3I and Cumberland Police.
