Some kind of a record was set for the week in local area bowling centers. An 800 and four 300s plus five scores of 280-plus were bowled in the local area. A very large number of games with 10 or more strikes.
Derek Yates was the area leader, bowling 813/300 in White Oaks’ Industrial League. Jeremiah Howsare followed, rolling 738/268. Then Chad Gable scored a 300 game in his 725 set and A.J. Bishop rolled a 289 game in his 720 set. Mike Sipple scored a 288 game in his 684 set.
At The Bowler, Travis Walters topped the scoring list, rolling 781/279 and also scored his 300 game in a 693 set. John Wolford followed, bowling 768/279. Brad Burr scored a 289 game in his 711 set and Eric Bittner rolled a 287 game in his 682 set. Richard Shewbridge bowled a 288 game in his 658 set
C.P. Sines led the bowlers at Rainbow Lanes, scoring a 300 game and a 744 set. Randy Likens was next high, rolling 686/258.
Rodney Helsley bowled 728/258 for the week’s high at Wilson Lanes. Bob Greene was next high, rolling 704/239.
Butch Young was highest of the Sherwood bowlers, scoring 718/245. Ryan Knieriem was next high, rolling 644/227.
In the PBA Experience League Bobby Benton was highest, bowling 647/229. A.J. Bishop and Andy Alt were next. rolling 631/240 and 614/218 respectively.
The area’s top lady bowler for the week was Vivian Helsley who scored 617/233 at The Bowler. Mary B. Riley was next high for the ladies. rolling 578/222.
Pam Brinkman was the top lady at Rainbow Lanes, scoring 601/219. Dee Self was next, rolling 586/224.
Samantha King’s 580/222 was highest of the White Oak ladies’ scores. Michele Hitchens’ 573/205 was next high.
Julie Greene rolled 552/212 for the ladies’ high at Wilson Lanes. Inella Zirk was next, scoring 523/189.
Wendy Atkinson bowled 542/203 at Sherwood followed by Barb Miller’s 520/186.
Ray Foster was the area’s top senior bowler for the week, scoring 649/277 at The Bowler. Clyde Norris rolled 552/233 at White Oaks
Tanner Benson bowled 639/265 at White Oaks for the area’s top youth bowler for the week. Billie J. Weems rolled 585/222, also at White Oaks. Matt Riley was highest of The Bowler youth, scoring 637/215; Adam Brant, close behind, rolled 635/239. Ryan Whitehair bowled 597/223 at Rainbow and Jeff Hixenbaugh rolled 589/262 at Wilson Lanes.
The Western MD USBC Youth Championship Tournament will be completed this weekend at The Bowler. Several big scores have been rolled to date and there is some great competition expected for the last two days.

Sines & Simpson perfect at Rainbow
C.P. Sines and Todd Simpson both bowled perfect games in Rainbow’s Men’s Civic League. Sines was Rainbow’s top bowler for the week with a 766 set. Simpson scored 720/300. Rich Baker with a big score rolling 744/666.

Bob Greene’s 816 leads area
Bob Greene bowled a near-perfect 299 game and an 816 set at Wilson Lanes and was highest of the local area bowlers for the week. Scott Hixenbaugh was next high at Wilson, scoring 746/267. Clay Corbin rolled a big 290 game in his 707 set.
At The Bowler, Dave Yates set the week’s top mark, scoring 766/278. Tim Yutzy was next, rolling 715/269. -
Dudley rolls perfect game at Rainbow Lanes
Sinclair Dudley III rolled a perfect game and 781 set in Rainbow’s Men’s Civic League. Another perfect game scored at that center after skipping a week.
Chad Gable continues his hot streak at White Oaks. This week he had the area’s top score, bowling 821/279. Bobby Benton was next high at White Oaks rolling 727/279. -

Corey Shirey rolled a perfect game and a set total of 785 at The Bowler in the Friday Night County League. Derek Yates scored exactly the same 785/300 in Rainbow’s Civic League. Both of these bowlers have rolled previous 300’s.

Clay Corbin was close to a perfect game, scoring 777/298 at Wilson Lanes, which was the week’s high for area bowlers. Craig Davis was next high at that center, rolling 768/279. Tommy McDonald bowled a 290 game in his 691 set.

John Ellifritz bowled 765/275 at Wilson Lanes and was the area’s top bowler for the week. Bob Greene was next high at that center, rolling 760/279.
