The cold weather seems to have taken a toll on scoring in our local centers. We all need to remember that rapid cooling of a warmed (several hours at normal room temps) bowling ball can cause cracks and total failure of the ball’s shell. The cold also seems to affect the older bowlers adversely with pain in joints especially the legs and arms. To minimize the pain, be sure to dress warm and be serious about stretching and warm up before starting your bowling match.
The local youth Championship Tournament will be held at The Bowler starting this weekend (Jan. 9-10 and 16-17). Tournament rules state that only certified USBC Youth bowlers within the jurisdiction of the Western MD USBC Association, Inc. will be permitted to participate in this tournament. This means you must show your USBC sanction card to the official at the check-in point.
Get used to having your card handy since we will also be hosting the state youth Championship Tourney during March and May.
Good luck bowling and have fun striking out!
