Housel joins 300 club; Sipple’s 793 tops for week
Larry Housel scored a perfect game in scoring 767/300 at The Bowler on April 29 in the Wednesday Night Men’s League. Housel’s 767 was also that center’s top score for the last two weeks. Bobby Benton was next high, rolling 679/238.
The area’s top score for the last weeks was Mike Sipple’s 793/279. Chad Taylor was next high, rolling 737/266. Bobby Lannon scored a 299 game in his 736 set.
At Wilson Lanes, Clay Corbin bowled 780/278 for that center’s top score for the week. Bob Greene followed, rolling 758/265.
Dawn House was the area’s top lady bowler for the week, scoring 662/228 at The Bowler. Lizz Fullerton was next high, rolling 579/204.
Autumn Gable was highest of the White Oak ladies, rolling 575/214. Betty Gable followed, bowling 555/189.
Kay Deitz bowled 511/200 at Wilson Lanes.
Senior Kermit Beeler rolled 614/252 at The Bowler and Helen Uncapher scored 512/201 at White Oak Lanes.
Youth bowler Matthew Folmer rolled 578/202 at The Bowler.
This is the last weekly bowling column for the season but I may insert a column if I feel there is important bowling news to report.
The boys winners of the Youth High Average tournament were Charles Abernathy, 1093, and Seth Friend, 1035, with Nathan Lowery, 1018, as first alternate. The girls winners were Allison Eller, 827, and Caitlin Weems, 817, with Staci Fitzwater, 779, as first alternate. Two boys and two girls will go on to the state High Average tournament.
The Youth All-Star Tournament was held at Par-Matt Lanes on April 19. Teams from each local bowling center consisted of the top two averaged boys and the top two averaged girls. The teams bowl three scratch games across three different lane pairs.
The White Oak youth All-Stars placed first with a 2,104 total. The members of the White Oak All-Stars are: Tanner Smith (182 average), Mystie Benson (130), Kevin Patch (172) and Larissa Blizzard (182). The Berkeley Springs team took second place, rolling 2097. The high series for the girls was 534, bowled by Michele Fravel of Berkeley Springs. She also rolled the girls high game of 201. The Bowler’s Danny Walch bowled the game and series tournament highs of 256 and 625.
Third place went to the Rainbow Lanes team who bowled 2032.

Lease’s 792/269 week’s high
Buck Lease scored a pair of 700’s during the week including the area high of 792/269 at The Bowler. Travis Walters scored a big 289 game and 736 set and was next high.

Smith rolls 300 game, Coughlin 700 set
Troy Smith rolled another perfect game scoring 695/300 in the Thursday Night Mixed League at White Oak Lanes.

Greene’s 788/299 week’s top score
Bob Greene rolled a near perfect 299 game and 788 set for the week’s top score in the local area. Greene also scored a 747 set that same evening.

Evans, Williams roll 300
Shawn Evans in the County League at The Bowler rolled a perfect game in his 698 set. In the AARP Seniors League, Paul Williams also scored a perfect game in his 705 set. Too bad that league in not sanctioned, missing out on national recognition plus personal awards.

Davis perfect, Gable leads area, Richards top senior
No scores from The Bowler this week. Snow kept me from picking them up. (Should have gotten them early on Tuesday.) I will include them in next week’s column.

Walters area’s top roller
Peyton Hartman put together a triple-double Thursday evening in leading Keyser to a 12-point, 61-49, win over hosting Hampshire.

Yates’ 813/300 best of blockbuster week
Some kind of a record was set for the week in local area bowling centers. An 800 and four 300s plus five scores of 280-plus were bowled in the local area. A very large number of games with 10 or more strikes.

Brobst near perfect with 298
Mike Brobst, close to adding another perfect game to his 30-plus list, scored 755/298 at White Oak Lanes.

Bishop rolls area high 298 game
AJ Bishop bowled an honor score 298 game and 737 set in the Tuesday Night Mixed League at White Oak Lanes.

Wolford bowls week’s best set
John Wolford rolled 756/276 in The Bowler’s County League and was the area’s top bowler for the week. Tom Fairgrieve was next scoring 721/278. Steve Shook in the Tuesday Strikers League bowled a 284 game in his 702 set.
