Hobo's edges KMK Insurance, 4-3

POTOMAC PARK - Zach Kendell's eighth-inning single scored Bradley Fitzpatrick lifting Hobo's over KMK Insurance Thursday evening at the Hot Stove Complex's Hamilton Field.

In the eighth inning, Fitzpatrick led off with a single to right center, stole second and scored the game-winner on Kendell's base hit down the left-field line.

There were nine hits between to the two teams and all were singles. Hobo's had five with Jordan and Nathan Bingman and Bobby Deneen hitting the other three. KMK's Chuck Condor and Brady Ellsworth each had RBI singles and Drew Porter and Andrew Willetts had the other two base hits.

Corey Shroyer and Fitzpatrick combined to strike out 11 batters, allowed only four hits and three walks for Hobo's. KMK's Condor and Kendell Kennell struck out five, walked three and gave up five hits.

Hobo's (2-1) hosts Salisbury Wednesday while KMK plays Outdoor Power on Monday.

    Just when it appeared it may take an error to decide the winner, Hobo’s Luke Campbell erased that thought by lacing a triple down the third base line for the first run of the afternoon in the sixth inning and followed with a towering home run in the seventh to lead Hobo’s to a 6-2 win over the Romney Rippers and give the Hyndman, Pa., team the Hot Stove League Championship.

    The Romney Rippers squandered an early 5-run lead, but jumped back ahead in the fifth inning and got solid pitching over the final three innings to beat Lakeview Auto 7-6 at Holler Field and take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Hot Stove American League Championship Series.
