KMK, Hobo’s to meet National League finals

— CRESAPTOWN — KMK Insurance scored six runs in the first and four in the third on its way to advancing to the Hot Stove League semifinals with an 11-5 victory over the Cresaptown Eagles Thursday at Holler Field.

Bryan Kimmel tripled and doubled and knocked in three runs and Dalton Golliday doubled and knocked in two runs for KMK. Jack Hawkins singled twice and Dylan Shockey and Josh Marchini both hit RBI singles.

The Cresaptown Eagles were led by Wade McGee who doubled and singled to knock home two runs and Dylan Wilson with two doubles and an RBI.

KMK (16-7) will play Hobo’s Restaurant Tuesday at Hamilton Field.

POTOMAC PARK — Hobo’s Restaurant wrapped up its second-round series and improved to 18-2 by collecting a 7-3 win over American Insurance Thursday evening in Hot Stove Playoff action at Rick Hamilton Field.

Hobo’s now advances to the National League Championship to face KMK Insurance beginning on Tuesday. The best-of-three series will continue on Thursday and Saturday, if needed.

Catcher Luke Campbell led Hobo’s at the plate by hitting a double, two singles and gathering two runs batted in. Corey Shroyer hit a double and a single with two RBIs, and Jordan Bingman hit a pair of singles.

Hobo’s got two runs in the first and another two in the third to go up 4-0. The score moved to 5-0 in the top of the fifth before American Insurance scored all three of its runs in the second half. Hobo’s would go on to get one run in the sixth and its last in the seventh.

American Insurance was led by Taylor Rice, who hit two singles and drove in two, and Brett Fuzie with two singles. Devin Storey singled twice as American Insurance matched Hobo’s with 10 hits.

Chad Deneen and Bingman combined for nine strikeouts, with Deneen starting and collecting the decision.
