SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Megan Anderson and Taylor Haggerty hit back-to-back two-out doubles in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Keyser to a 2-1 win over Frankfort in the Class AA, Region 2, Section 1 tournament on Friday.
The victory leaves the Golden Tornado (11-11) the only unbeaten team in the three-team sectional. Keyser plays at Berkeley Springs today, in a single game at noon.
A win today gives Keyser the section championship. A loss today would force a Monday afternoon game, against Berkeley Springs, at Keyser.
Frankfort, which beat Berkeley Springs earlier Friday, was eliminated by Keyser.
Anderson, a freshman, got the win with an eight-inning four-hitter. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Keyser had six hits, with Katelyn Ray and Alicia Cuthbertson getting a double and single each.
Savannah Hose tripled for Frankfort.
Keyser took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Cuthbertson singled, stole second, went to third on an overthrow, and scored on an overthrow of third.
Frankfort knotted it in the sixth when Hose smacked a leadoff triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Rice.
After a scoreless seventh, Anderson ripped a double to left-center with two out in the bottom of the eighth. Haggerty followed with a double to right-center to score Anderson and end the game.
Frankfort pitchers Rice, who worked the first seven innings, and Kristi Salonish, had six strikeouts and two walks.
The sectional tournament began on Wednesday, with Keyser topping Frankfort 7-4.

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. — Hampshire enjoyed one of its best offensive performances of the season, grabbing an early 5-0 lead and finishing with 12 hits in a shutout of Washington in the Class AAA, Region 2, Section 1 tournament.
Hampshire will play tournament host Jefferson today, at noon, needing to beat Jefferson twice to win the double-elimination tournament.
Washington was eliminated from the three-team field with the loss.
Hampshire led 5-0 after two innings, then padded the lead by scoring five more times over the final four innings.
Logan Sonner and Kayla Keckley had three singles, and Lyndsay Whetzel, Kasey Patterson and Cheyene Corbin two singles for the Trojans.
Patterson went the distance for the win, finishing with a four-hitter, four walks and six strikeouts.
Katelyn Weaver and Samantha Mills doubled and Kaila Burch singled twice for Washington.
