CUMBERLAND — An eight-run second inning shot Hampshire to a 15-3 win in the first game, and the Trojans finished off the doubleheader by beating Bishop Walsh 13-4 in the second game in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action at Cavanaugh Field.
Kasey Patterson pitched two complete games and allowed a total of 13 hits and seven runs in the two victories. She helped her cause in the first game by hitting three singles. Kayla Keckley hit a triple and three singles, while Cheyenne Corbin, Dana Veach and Brittany Moreland hit two singles.
Bishop Walsh got a double from Sophie Bambacus and two singles from Anne Mathews.
Hampshire was ahead 3-0 when it ran-off eight runs in the second. It was ahead 12-0 before Bishop Walsh scored twice in the third inning.
Game two saw the Spartans get out to a 4-2 lead after two innings, but Hampshire scored three times in the third to go ahead.
Sonner added a triple and two singles, an Veach added two singles to their first game totals. Patterson recorded seven strikeouts in her second shift on the mound.
BW got a triple and a double from Mathews, and Bambacus finished with a double and a single. Erin McGee got seven strikeouts, but was labeled with the loss.
Hampshire is now 7-12 overall and 3-9 in the AMAC. Bishop Walsh (3-13, 0-11 AMAC) plays Southern at Tuesday, at 5 p.m.
