CUMBERLAND — Kelsey Robertson and Rachel Shockey retired all 15 batters they faced as the Mountain Ridge duo combined for a perfect game in the Miners’ 16-0 win over Bishop Walsh.
Robertson and Shockey combined for six strikeouts, issued no walks and allowed no hits. The Miners managed 16 hits, and did most of their damage during the second inning. Mountain Ridge also took advantage _of eight errors by the Spartans.
Taylor Llewellyn had three singles for the Miners, and Danielle McGinnis hit a double. Stephanie Fazenbaker, Keri Bean and Lacey Hutcheson all hit a pair of singles.
Mountain Ridge jumps to 13-1 overall and in the AMAC. The Miners will play at Fort Hill on Saturday. Bishop Walsh (3-11, 0-9) plays a doubleheader with Hampshire at Cavanaugh Field at noon on Saturday.
East Hardy 10
Pendleton 7
BAKER, W.Va. — Pendleton had a five-run rally in the fourth to tie the score, but No. 4 East Hardy scored four times and Molly Look worked three scoreless innings in relief to lead the Cougars to a win Tuesday.
Besides the scoreless relief effort, Look finished 3-for-4 with a pair of triples, a single and two RBIs. Emily Biller had three hits in three at bats with two doubles and two RBIs.
The Wildcats scored once in the first and again in the second inning, but East Hardy got two in the opening inning and four more in the next. Pendleton took the lead with a five-run fourth inning, but the Cougars got a run back in the bottom half, and two more in the fifth to take back the lead.
Kayla May went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.
Now 12-3, East Hardy plays today at Hancock at 4:45.
Frankfort 11
Southern 2
OAKLAND — Kristi Salonish hit a first-inning grand slam and scattered eight hits on the mound in leading Frankfort over Southern in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference game.
Salonish helped the Falcons score five runs in the first inning with her slam. She wasn’t overwhelming, striking out only three, but was able to work out of most situations she was in.
Jasmine Morgan added three hits in four at bats as Frankfort finished with seven hits.
Alycia Horner had a strong outing with 10 strikeouts and seven hits allowed. She hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to account for the Rams second run. Shayna Sweitzer, Kym Michaels and Lyndsey Glotfelty all went 2-for-3.
Frankfort (8-9, 6-6 AMAC) will play at Hampshire on Thursday. Southern (2-10, 2-9) hosts Fort Hill on Thursday.
Petersburg 4
Keyser 3
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Whitney Lough escaped a seventh-inning pickle, stranding the tying run on third base in Petersburg’s win over Keyser Tuesday evening.
Lough pitched a complete game, fanned four batters and walked none while picking up her ninth win of the season.
At the plate, Lough drove in a pair of runs with three singles. Emily Colaw hit a double and got an RBI later on a fielder’s choice, and Rachel Thompson hit a double, a single and drove in a run.
Brandi Braithwaite hit an RBI single for the Tornado.
Now 14-7, the Vikings will play gain today at 5 p.m. when they travel to Pendleton. Keyser (7-11) plays at Tucker on Thursday.
Moorefield 9
Hampshire 0
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Madeline Elmore held Hampshire to only six hits while Kristen Ball and Crystal Simmons combined to score seven runs Monday evening.
Elmore faced 29 batters, striking out nine — five swinging — and had one walk helping the Yellow Jackets improve to 6-12 and snap a nine-game losing streak.
Ball and Simmons each went 2-for-3 with two singles. Ball had three RBIs and scored three times while Simmons scored four times.
Kayla Barb was 2-for-4 with a single and a double and scored twice.
Hampshire’s Lyndsey Whetzel was perfect in three attempts, hitting two singles and a double. She also stole a base.
Moorefield outlasted Hampshire to win the junior varsity game, 13-8. Hayley Arose was 2-for-3 with four runs and four stolen bases. Chrystal Heavener doubled and Lauren Daniel picked up the win.
Moorefield played a doubleheader at Tucker County last night.
Hampshire (5-12) visits Berkeley Springs today.
