Miners, Sentinels keep rolling

FROSTBURG — Kelsey Robertson allowed just three hits and walked one in a complete game shutout as third-ranked Mountain Ridge beat Keyser 7-0 Thursday afternoon at Mount Pleasant.

Robertson recorded just three strikeouts but kept the Keyser offense off-balance all day, allowing only three singles to three Keyser batters.

Miranda Nicol hit a two-run home run in the first inning and added a single later. Keri Bean had three singles, Stephanie Fazenbaker two singles, and Taylor Llewellyn a single and two RBIs.

Eight Mountain Ridge seniors were honored during Senior Night. Head coach Martha Mauzy credited the seniors with outstanding defensive play in the shutout.

The Miners (9-1 overall, 9-1 AMAC) play today, 5:30, at Southern. Keyser (6-7, 3-5) hosts Frankfort this evening.

CUMBERLAND — Second-ranked Fort Hill blanked Hampshire back-to-back to win its 10th and 11th games in a row with a 6-0, 10-0 doubleheader sweep of the Trojans at Long Field.

Adria Lewis led the Sentinels at the plate in the opener with a two-run home run and a single. Shari Beavers and winning pitcher Cierra Miller hit a single and a double, while Kathryn Huber had a pair of singles.

Miller was dominating on the mound, pitching a complete game, giving up three singles, three walks, and striking out 18.

In the second game, a five-inning victory by the Sentinels, Olivia Stanley belted a home run and scored two runs, and Beaver pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10.

Beavers and Huber had two singles and a double for the Sentinels, who had 14 hits. Beavers and Huber both knocked in two runs, while Lindsey Fisher added three singles, two runs batted in and, as did Huber, scored three runs. Alyssa Yost doubled home a run and Destiny James tripled.

Fort Hill (12-1 overall, 8-1 AMAC) will play Monday, 4:30 p.m., at Northern. Hampshire (5-11, 3-7) will visit Moorefield Monday.

BAKER, W.Va. — Molly Look singled, doubled and tripled, knocked in three runs and scored three runs to lead fourth-ranked East Hardy over Moorefield.

Ashley Dove doubled and singled to knock in three runs for East Hardy as Look also went the distance, giving up six singles and two earned runs, striking out eight and walking four.

Madelyn Elmore singled twice for Moorefield, Cassie Rinker doubled and Crystal Simmons knocked in both Yellow Jacket runs with a single.

East Hardy (11-3) will play a doubleheader today at Tygarts Valley, beginning at 5 p.m. Moorefield (5-11) will visit Petersburg today.
