OAKLAND — Winning pitcher Whitney Lough tossed a five-hitter and struck out eight to help Petersburg even its record with a 10-3 win over Southern in high school softball Monday afternoon.
Lough aided her cause with a pair of singles, and Emilee Colaw added a double and a single. The Vikings, who gained revenge for a 15-1 loss to Southern earlier in the year, scored in every inning but the seventh.
Southern’s Alycia Horner had two of the Rams’ five hits, and had six strikeouts in the loss.
Petersburg (3-3) was scheduled to play at Tucker on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams (2-3) host Northern today at 4:30.
East Hardy 14, Gilmer 3
Lincoln 6, East Hardy 2
GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Lindsey Basye hit for the cycle and had six runs batted in to send East Hardy to a 14-3 win over Gilmer as the Cougars split a pair of games in the Glenville Invitational.
Earlier in the day, East Hardy suffered its first loss, 6-2 to Lincoln.
In the win over Gilmer, Basye went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer, four runs scored and six RBIs. Carrie Vance added two doubles, a single and an RBI.
Molly Look had six strikeouts and allowed seven hits in the win.
In the first game, Lincoln padded a 3-1 lead by scoring three times in the top of the seventh.
Basye added to her productive day with a double, two singles and an RBI. Sona Delawder added a double and a single.
The Cougars (7-1) were scheduled to play at Pendleton County on Tuesday.

Mountain Ridge JV 4
FROSTBURG — Sam Frankenberry and Mary Valentine tripled and knocked in three runs to lead undefeated Fort Hill over Mountain Ridge.
Rachel Greise doubled and singled for the Sentinels.
For Mountain Ridge, Amber Ravenscroft had three singles, Shayna Stowell tripled, singled and knocked in two runs, and Sarah Hughes doubled and singled twice.
Courtney Koelker got the win for Fort Hill, striking out nine.
Fort Hill (8-0) will play Keyser next Tuesday.
