KEYSER, W.Va. — Megan Anderson tossed a two-hit shutout to lift Keyser to a 3-0 victory over Petersburg Friday in high school girls softball.
Anderson, a freshman left-hander, walked only one and struck out nine. She finished her complete game with four hitless innings and improved her personal mark to 4-1.
The Tornado scored the only run it needed in the second inning when Carley Burns doubled and scored on a single by Karly Harrison.
Alicia Cuthbertson’s two-out RBI single capped a two-run sixth that boosted the lead to 3-0.
Celeste Bradley doubled for Petersburg. Whitney Lough absorbed a tough loss, scattering seven hits and striking out six without walking a batter.
Keyser visits Allegany and Petersburg travels to Southern on Monday.

Allegany 11, Mountain Ridge 8
FROSTBURG — Stephanie Dawson hit a grand slam and was the winning pitcher during Allegany’s 11-8 win over Mountain Ridge in junior varsity softball.
Dawson added a double and a single to her slam and had four runs batted in. Miranda Shank hit a double, Alexis Sivic hit a double and a single and Emily Van Meter singled twice. Lindsie Linaburg added a double and a single.
For the Miners, Alexa Gallagher and Maggie Wilson hit a double. Amber Ravenscroft had two singles, and Shayna Sweitzer had two doubles and a single.
Now 5-1, Mountain Ridge plays Southern at Mount Pleasant on Saturday.
