Saville powers Trojans to win

ROMNEY, W.Va.— Karisa Saville hit a solo home run, and drove in another run with a double to lead Hampshire to a 4-1 win over in high school softball Friday.

Saville had two of the Trojans’ seven hits, while Lindsey Whetzel added two singles. Cheyene Corbin also finished the evening with two singles, and drove in two runs.

The Vikings struck in the top half of the first to take a 1-0 lead, but Hampshire came back with three runs in the bottom half. Saville’s homer accounted for the final run and came in the third.

Petersburg’s Jennifer Kuh singled three times, and Whitney Lough singled twice.

Kasey Patterson had five strikeouts and one walk in a complete game victory. Rachel Thompson had six strikeouts and one walk in the loss.

Hampshire (3-5) plays at Jefferson, 4 p.m., on Monday. Petersburg (2-3) will play a doubleheader at Grafton on Monday.
