PETERSBURG, Va. — Alycia Horner fired a five-inning one-hitter and Shayna Sweitzer had three hits and scored three runs as Southern powered past Petersburg, 15-1, in high school girls softball on Wednesday.
Horner, who hurled a five-inning no-hitter Tuesday against Bishop Walsh, has allowed just one hit with 15 strikeouts in her first 10 innings of work. She fanned seven Petersburg batters.
Ayla Fulmer went 2-for-3 and Kelsey Graham and Kim Michaels had two hits and two runs scored for the Rams, who led 6-0 before erupting for nine runs in the fifth inning.
Whitney Lough had Petersburg’s hit, a triple.
Southern (2-0) plays at Hampshire on Saturday at noon. Petersburg hosts East Hardy on Friday.
Hampshire 13, Northern 6
ROMNEY, W.Va. — A seven-run second inning was the difference as Hampshire beat Northern in an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference game.
Logan Sonner and Kayla Keckley had three hits and Taylor Kidwell two to lead an 11-hit Hampshire attack.
E. Manges had two hits and T. Brenneman had a double for Northern.
Hampshire’s Kacey Patterson had five strikeouts in getting the win. Brenneman had 11 strikeouts but allowed 11 hits in getting the loss.
On Tuesday, the Trojans scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-3 win over Moorefield.
Dana Veach hit a triple and a single, Kayla Keckle tripled and Cheyenne Corbin and Lyndsay Whetzel singled twice for Hampshire.
K. Barb tripled and K. Ball had two singles for Moorefield.
The Trojans (2-2, 1-1 AMAC) play at Allegany today at 4 o’clock Northern (0-2, 0-2) visits Keyser on Saturday.

OAKLAND — Corrine Fike doubled and drove in three runs in leading Southern past Petersburg in junior varsity softball.
Angel Rasel added two singles and two RBIs for the Rams. Pitchers Kendra Hardesty and McKenzie Lafferty combined for six strikeouts.
Southern (2-0) plays again on Saturday, 2 p.m. at Hampshire.

KEYSER, W.Va. — Miranda Shank led a nine-hit attack with a triple and double to lead the Allegany jayvees past the Keyser jayvees on Tuesday.
Alexa Sivic doubled and singled, and Stephanie Dawson hit a two-run triple for the Campers. A. Kinsall tripled and doubled for Keyser.
Allegany will host Hampshire today.
