Thomas Johnson spoils FH’s undefeated season, 3-1

CUMBERLAND — Andrea Armstrong and Nikki Absher each had 16 kills, but the Fort Hill Sentinels suffered their first loss of the season, 3-1 to Thomas Johnson, in high school volleyball Tuesday evening.

It was the regular-season finale for the Sentinels, who will enter the West Region tournament with a 13-1 record. The playoff drawing will be held Nov. 2.

Thomas Johnson, the Class 4A state runner-up a year ago, won the match by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 21-25 and 25-17.

Armstrong finished with 16 kills and 25 digs and Absher had 16 kills and 10 digs. Tasha Dunlap had 30 assists and 13 digs, Emily Anderson 17 digs and Samantha Frankenberry eight points for the Sentinels.

Thomas Johnson also took the jayvee match, 25-15, 20-25, 15-8. Kayla Hutson led the Sentinels with 12 service points and 14 assists. Katelyn Covey had seven kills and Rebecca Pannone 21 digs.



Keyser 3, BW 0

CUMBERLAND — Keyser swept Bishop Walsh 25-22, 25-7, 25-12 Tuesday evening at BW.

Ashley Turnbull had nine points, three kills and two blocks to lead the Spartans. Kelly Larkin added five digs, two aces and a kill, Kelsie Bennett had five digs and Christine Pellegrino and Abby Benjamin three digs.

Keyser won the jayvee match 25-15, 25-13. Leah Nolan had five points and two digs for BW.

The Spartans close the season Thursday, at home, against Paw Paw in a 6 p.m. match. Keyser visits Hampshire on Thursday.



Berlin 3, Salisbury 0

SALISBURY, Pa. — Leah Simmons had six kills and five aces to lead Berlin to a 25-18, 25-10, 25-12 sweep of Salisbury.

Ashley Tressler added five kills, Emily Menhorn had four aces and six digs and Emily Philip 17 assists for Berlin.

Ashleigh Munion had seven kills for Salisbury.

Berlin won the jayvee match 2-0.
