CUMBERLAND — Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champion Good Counsel rolled past Bishop Walsh, 76-32, and Seton Keough, the top-ranked team in the Baltimore, rallied fora 57-52 victory over Georgetown Visitation in the opening games of the 15th annual Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational on Thursday.
In the evening games, Elizabeth Seton downed Seton School (Va.) 63-36, and St. Frances pulled away from Holy Cross in the fourth quarter for a 60-50 victory.
The tournament continues today at 2:45 when BW plays Georgetown Visitation. Seton School faces Holy Cross at 4:15, Good Counsel takes on Seton Keough at 5:45, and Elizabeth Seton battles St. Frances at 7:30.
• Good Counsel 76, Bishop Walsh 32: Good Counsel grabbed the lead early, and outscored the Spartans 22-1 in the second quarter.
Bianca Hood, Sarian Snyder, Jess Hentrel and Faith Randolf had nine points, while Katie Sheahin and Kim Tyllis added eight for Good Counsel. Sydney Lewis had a team-high nine rebounds.
Ashley Turnbull led Bishop Walsh with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Morgan Evans hit three three-pointers to finish with nine points.
• Seton Keough 57, Georgetown 52: Aysa Bussie’s strong performance led Seton Keough to a fourth-quarter comeback after Keough gave up a big first half lead.
Bussie finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds and five steals as Keough made up a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Katelyn Fischer added 17 points.
Georgetown trailed 17-11 after one quarter and 33-25 at halftime before turning the tables and outscoring Seton Keough 21-7 in the third. Nicole Krusen scored 14 points and Maddy Williams added 12 for Georgetown. Kirsten Haley had six points and eight rebounds.
• Elizabeth Seton 63, Seton 36: Tyuanna Marshall scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had five steals to lead Elizabeth Seton.
Alexis Martin added 13 points and Alex Stelfox scored 10. Elizabeth Seton built a 15-4 lead by the end of the first quarter, and was ahead 39-16 at halftime.
For Seton School, Marion Lazano had 15 points and four rebounds and Teresa McCullough pulled in nine rebounds.
• St. Frances 60, Holy Cross 50: Brianna Hutchin scored 15 points and hauled in 15 rebounds in St. Frances’ win over Holy Cross. Shatyra Hawks added 13 points and six steals, and Deanna Harman finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Tyanna Williams had 16 points for Holy Cross, and Akira Bethel added nine.
Holy Cross held a slim lead for most of the first three quarters, but St. Frances used a 23-11 fourth quarter scoring edge to get the win.
