HYNDMAN, Pa. — The Hyndman-Londonderry Lions Club will host its 25th show with Hyndman’s version of the popular television show, “Hee Haw,” on March 12 and 13 starting at 7:30 p.m. each night.
The silver anniversary program, under the direction of Robert L. Willison, will be presented in Hyndman-Londonderry Elementary School. The theme is “25 Years of Country’s Best.”
John Topper and Baron Leap will co-host the show this year. The New Edition will again be the “Hee Haw” band, providing the music along with a host of singers and dancers. A sampling of the skits will be “Empty Arms Hotel,” featuring Harry Sellers and Caleb Shaffer; “Local Barber Shop,” featuring Alex Heckert and Doug Miller; “Minnie’s Advice to the Love Lorn,” featuring Caroline Lehman and others; “Elviney and Loweezy,” featuring Georgie Close and Glenna Murray; “Lu Lu’s Truck Stop,” featuring Heckert and Murray; plus the Wills Mountain Cloggers and many other skits, jokes and songs.
The show will be dedicated to two longtime “Hee Haw” veterans who have retired — Delmar Biller, who played co-host as Mel, and Tom Cunningham, who played the husband of Idy Lee (Lavern.)
A pre-show program honoring military veterans and in particular members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post, will be shown on the large screen. Anniversary souvenir T-shirts will be available for purchase.
Advance tickets are on sale at Corley’s Barber Shop in Bedford; B&B Market, Linn’s Restaurant and Standard Bank in Hyndman; and Hobo’s Restaurant, State Line.
Tickets also will be available at the door. Both general admission and reserve tickets are being offered.
