MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James Wall of Midlothian are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Shea Wall, of Fayetteville, N.C., to David Monroe Waikart of Bethesda, Md., son of Frank Wolf Waikart III, of Bethesda and Mary Anne Sharer Waikart of Amelia Island, Fla.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Wall of Catonsville, Md., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Shea of Hampton.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolf Waikart II of Piney Point, Md., and the late James Monroe Sharer of Cumberland, Md., and Marion Yarnall Sharer McLeish of University Park, Md.
Lauren graduated from the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School in Richmond and attended the University of Virginia, from which she graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in cognitive science and Russian studies. She is a captain in the U.S. Army, currently deployed in Afghanistan.
David graduated from St. Albans School in Washington D.C., and attended Davidson College, from which he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history. After serving six years in the U.S. Army, he is pursuing a master of arts degree in security studies at the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
A June 2013 wedding in Georgetown is planned.
Lauren and David will reside in the District of Columbia area.
