LAVALE — Mr. and Mrs. James P. Niland of LaVale are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Marney Jean, to Christopher L. VanGarven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard C. VanGarven of Frederick.
Marney is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John O. “Jack” Getty of Lonaconing and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmund J. Niland of Piedmont, W.Va.
The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Allegany High School and 2009 graduate of Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. She received her bachelor of science degree in veterinary medical technology and now is a licensed registered vet tech.
Marney is currently employed with Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital and Old Farm Veterinary Hospital in Frederick.
Chris is a 1997 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. He graduated in 2003 from University of South Dakota with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and is a brother of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
The groom-to-be is currently employed as a mattress professional at Sleepy’s in the Frederick area.
A November wedding at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick has been planned. The reception will follow at Alexander’s in Buckeystown.
