CUMBERLAND — Mr. and Mrs. W. Stephen Helmick of Cumberland are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kristen Nicole, to Stephen John Oakley, son of Mr. Scott Oakley of Lawrenceville, Ga., and the late Sandra Oakley.
Miss Helmick is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Jane Weimer, Cumberland and the late Joseph Weimer, and Mr. and Mrs. William E. Helmick of LaVale.
Mr. Oakley is the grandson of Pastor Rae Cameron of Moltonborough, N.H., and the late Lois Cameron and the late Miles and Marion Oakley.
The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Calvary Christian Academy in Cresaptown. She is a 2009 magna cum laude honors graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., where she received a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Miss Helmick has accepted employment as a registered nurse on the General Medical Unit at the Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg.
The groom-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Ga. and a 2009 graduate from Liberty University with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. Mr. Oakley is currently a graduate student pursuing his master’s degree in professional counseling at Liberty University and is employed at Olive Garden in Lynchburg.
The wedding will take place at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland on June 5, 2010. Formal invitations will be sent.
