Melvin, Dicks engagement


CUMBERLAND — Gregory and Patricia Dicks of Cumberland are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Matthew Scott Dicks, to Ashley Morgan Melvin, daughter of Mike and Jan Melvin of Rockville.

The prospective groom, a 2001 Fort Hill High School graduate, earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Frostburg State University in 2005 and a doctorate of physical therapy degree from the University of Maryland in 2008. He is employed as a physical therapist at Physiotherapy Associates in Clarksville. He is the grandson of Charles F. Dicks and the late Betty Dicks and Edwin and Patricia Hopwood of Cumberland.

The bride-to-be, a 2001 Academy of Holy Cross graduate, earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Salisbury University in 2005 and a doctorate of physical therapy degree from the University of Maryland in 2008. She is a physical therapist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore. She is the granddaughter of Elsie Melvin of Hagerstown and the late Thomas Melvin.

An October wedding is planned.
