February 28, 2010 — CUMBERLAND — James and Krista Friend of Cumberland and Cindy Kerns and James Fredricks of Kansas City, Mo., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jeni Lee Friend to Jeremy Paul Murphy, son of Sally Murphy and the late Gerald Murphy, Toronto, Canada.
Jeni is the granddaughter of William “Bill” and Theresa Kerns, LaVale; Paula Friend and the late James Friend, Cumberland; Harry and Dee Owens, Bedford, Pa.; Ervin and Joann Sisco, Gladstone, Mo., and Jim Fredricks, Gladstone, Mo.
Jeremy is the grandson of the late Warren and Mary Ellis, Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as the late Michael and Joyce Murphy, Toronto, Ontario.
Jeni is a 2000 graduate of Leavenworth High School, Leavenworth, Kan., and a former attendant of Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan. She is currently employed by Farmers Insurance and is actively pursuing and building her photography business. Jeremy is a 1995 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Olathe, Kan.; alumnus of Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan., receiving a bachelor of science degree in marketing and his master’s in business administration. He is also an alumnus of University of Missouri, Kansas City, Mo., receiving his master’s of accounting degree in 2008. Jeremy is currently working toward his certified public accountant designation. He is currently employed by Farmers Insurance and is an active member of the Men’s Ice Hockey League in Kansas City.
The wedding is planned for April 24, 2010, at the Advent Lutheran Church, Olathe, Kan., with a reception to follow at the VFW Post 7397, Lenexa, Kan. Invitations have been sent.
